Battlefield 6 Update Brings New Map, Mode, and Aim Assist Changes

Battlefield 6 has received a major new update, rolling out version 1.1.2.0 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The patch expands the game with new content, gameplay improvements, and a large set of technical fixes, continuing the studio’s planned 2025 post-launch roadmap.

New California-Themed Map: Eastwood

The highlight of the update is Eastwood, a Southern California–inspired battlefield now available across multiple official modes. The map supports several vehicle types, including tanks, helicopters, and even a new Golf Cart vehicle variant.

Multiple map versions are included to support different layouts depending on mode.

New Weapons and Limited-Time Mode

Two new weapons join the arsenal:

  • DB-12 shotgun
  • M357 Trait sidearm

The patch also introduces a limited-time mode called Sabotage, which focuses on demolition-driven objective play, with attackers attempting to destroy key points while defenders try to prevent detonations.

Gauntlet mode also gains a new mission type, Rodeo, rewarding players with bonus points for eliminating enemies while inside vehicles.

Portal Expands with Sandbox Tools

Portal mode receives a significant update featuring:

  • A blank “Sandbox” map for custom mode creators
  • The Golf Cart added as a usable vehicle
  • Battle Pickups arriving later in the update, offering high-power, limited-ammo weapons as map pickups

Aim Assist Reverts to Open Beta Tuning

One of the biggest gameplay changes targets controller performance. The studio has reverted aim assist to its Open Beta values, aiming to provide more stable and predictable aiming behavior across all engagement distances and input types. Input latency and stick response have also been refined to make soldier movement and aiming feel smoother.

According to the developer, these changes are intended to improve muscle memory, consistency, and cross-device balance heading into future seasons.

Additional Improvements

The update also includes wide-ranging fixes across:

  • Soldier animations, vaulting, sliding, ragdolls, and revives
  • Weapon accuracy, recoil, attachments, optics, and dispersion
  • Vehicle seats, hitboxes, missiles, and camera behavior
  • UI clarity, tooltips, mode HUD elements, and XP tracking
  • Single-player mission scripting, visuals, audio, and AI behavior
  • New audio effects for pings, movement, weapons, and ambient events

Weapon balance changes lean toward improved long-range reliability for automatic rifles, alongside recoil reductions for the LMR27, M39, and SVDM.
